He received specialized training in Hand Surgery (UK, 1993-94), Craniofacial Surgery (USA, 1994-95), and Aesthetic Surgery (USA, 2000-01). He served as the Director General of Medical Services of the Indian Air Force and was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President of India in 2010. In 2013, he was appointed Honorary Surgeon to the President of India.
